The RECIRCLE MED project participated in the Meditour Agadir 2026 Forum, held in Agadir, Morocco, from 18 to 20 June 2026 under the theme “Sustainable and Innovative Mediterranean Destinations”. The event brought together public and private stakeholders, international organisations, and tourism experts from across the Mediterranean to discuss the future of the sector, with a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and cooperation.
During the forum, the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) presented RECIRCLE MED, as example of projects supporting the transition towards more resilient and sustainable tourism models. The project was highlighted for its contribution to integrating blue economy and circular economy principles into coastal tourism development, while strengthening local engagement and cross-border cooperation.

Discussions throughout the event underlined several shared priorities for Mediterranean tourism, such as reducing environmental impact, improving resource efficiency, and fostering more balanced territorial development. In this context, RECIRCLE MED was showcased as part of a broader effort to decarbonise tourism activities, promote sustainable water and resource management, and support the long-term resilience of coastal destinations.
The forum also emphasised the importance of stronger governance, public–private collaboration, and innovation in addressing challenges such as climate change, tourism seasonality, and pressure on coastal ecosystems. These priorities closely align with the objectives of RECIRCLE MED, which aims to support a more sustainable, circular, and locally rooted tourism model across Mediterranean regions.
Meditour Agadir 2026 once again confirmed its role as a key platform for dialogue and cooperation in the Mediterranean tourism ecosystem, reinforcing the value of joint European initiatives in shaping a more sustainable future for the sector.
