The RECIRCLE MED project was presented at the 6th World Planning Schools Congress (WPSC 2026), held in Finland on June 29-July 3, 2026 under the theme “Peripheral Visions – Rethinking Planning”. The event brought together researchers, educators, and practitioners from around the world to discuss innovative approaches to spatial planning and sustainable territorial development.
RECIRCLE MED’s participation highlighted the role of circular economy and blue economy principles in shaping more sustainable Mediterranean coastal tourism models. The project focuses on supporting coastal destinations in their transition towards resource-efficient, resilient, and inclusive tourism practices through knowledge transfer, cooperation, and locally adapted action plans.
The presentation showcased how integrated circular and blue economy frameworks can lead to regenerative tourism models in Mediterranean coastal destinations.
By contributing to international planning discussions, RECIRCLE MED continues to strengthen cooperation and promote innovative solutions for a more sustainable and resilient Mediterranean future.
